Shakespeare in New York

One of the main reasons to go to New York is to have an opportunity to enjoy plays on Broadway. and those plays are usually very expensive. We did have a chance to see Hamilton and it was worth every cent and the long wait for tickets. It is one of the best plays we have ever seen and it is the product of Lin-Manuel Miranda who wrote the music, lyrics and book based on the book Alexander Hamilton written by Ron Chernow. This play has garnered more than two dozen awards. If you have a chance, don’t miss it.

But if Hamilton is expensive there is plenty of theater in New York that is not expensive and the city offers other attractions that will make you go aback many more times. One of the most surprising attractions is Shakespeare in the Park. And the park is Central Park, one of the best parks anywhere that attracts cyclists, tennis, soccer and baseball aficionados. The trails are full of people, not just on weekends but everyday. And New York also has the best museums in the country with art from all over the world. Shakespeare in the park is free entertainment but you must line up early to get the free tickets. Two per person, and many theater goers line up at night to be there when the ticket window opens. We were very impressed with A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Great production with Felicia Rashad, a great cast and wonderful sets. It would be helpful to read about the play before going. You will find it funny and entertaining. Going to New York is expensive but less so if you take the BOLT bus. Go to the Big Apple and enjoy it.
